We have yet to turn the calendar over to 2016, but the Fundraising Day in New York committee is deep into planning next year’s conference scheduled for June 17 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel. Each year we try to retain the best of previous conferences while adding new features. I believe you will be pleased with our ideas so far.
For starters, we’ll add two new tracks of educational sessions: Legacy Planning and Professional Growth. The former is a reprise of the old planned giving track, with up-to-date concepts and practices. The latter will provide strategies for becoming a better professional and advancing you career.
Our educational sessions in 2016 will again provide you with tools you can use immediately to improve your performance and get results for your organization. We also plan to add sessions that will stretch your thinking about issues affecting the nonprofit sector.
The luncheon and keynote address are always highlights of FRDNY. I’m pleased to announce that our keynote speaker will be Rev. Dr. Calvin O. Butts, III. Dr. Butts is best known as Pastor of the Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem and prominent spokesperson on social, economic, and educational matters. He is also a President of SUNY College at Old Westbury. Having seen him speak publicly many times, I can tell you that he is hands-down the best I have ever seen. You won’t want to miss it.
I’m excited to serve as General Chair of FRDNY 2016. I’ve been a part of the conference for more than twenty years. The inspiration it gave me that very first year has never diminished (quite the opposite!). I’m looking forward to a wonderful conference in 2016.
