Revolutionary approach to recruiting at Zappos

Las Vegas-based shoe retailer Zappos has announced that they are doing away with traditional job postings.

They have created a new social network called Inside Zappos, which prospective employees need to join in order to receive “priority consideration” for job openings.

Zappos has long been known for its unique culture, and unconventional ways of doing things. This is actually a brilliant way to build a pool of qualified candidates that will be available as needs arise. Zappos will enjoy the luxury of becoming acquainted with prospects in a a more targeted and manageable way than receiving a deluge of resumes in response to posting a job on a traditional job board.

Once again, Tony Hsieh has proven himself an innovator.
