March Mobile Madness

This morning I attended a meeting of the Direct Marketing Association of Long Island. The topic of mobile marketing was introduced by Scott Fennwick of ValueClick Media:

I learned that:
Out of 6.8 billion people in the world…
4 billion have mobile phones.

9 out of 10 mobile searches lead to action…within an hour!
And half of those searches lead to purchases.

Mobile coupons receive a 10x higher redemption than print coupons.

The bottom line message was that mobile is not important in and of itself; it’s important because of what it can do. Business owners tend to think of mobile as “one more thing to do”, but its real value is as a driver of improving customer relationships, which can be through better loyalty programs, more timely & relevant surveys, enhanced social media, and as an overall marketing asset.
