It’s happened several times….

I know it can be difficult to justify utilizing the services of an executive recruiter.

You wonder what “secret sauce” we have…whether we can identify candidates that are special enough to justify our fees.

Sometimes you can find a great candidate on your own through networking, or posting your job online.

But something just happened – again – that speaks to the value of utilizing a search firm.  Since recruiting is all we do, we are hyper-aware of the landscape of direct and digital marketers.  We maintain a detailed database with notes about the thousands of professionals in it.  Sometimes the notes are practical, ie: Candidate has expertise in SEM, or Candidate wants to move from agency side to client side.  Sometimes the notes are aspirational, ie: Candidate will only consider VP level roles, or Candidate is interested in hearing about Board positions.

Sometimes, the notes seem fruitless…ie, Candidate would like to move to New Jersey in next year or so.

But we just placed a candidate who had made that request, and when our New Jersey client engaged us for help filling an open position, we put 2+2 together!  And it is not the first time that has happened.  We had a candidate who trailed her husband’s career with NASA down to Florida, and placed her with our client in Winter Park.  There have been others, as well.

It takes a broad network, and meticulous notes, to leave open the possibility that we will know of talent that our clients would not be aware of.  So if we do have a “secret sauce”, I would characterize it as years of experience, and a daily presence in the industry.  We like to say that “we recruit the way you would, if you only had the time”.

If you are looking for that needle in a haystack, you have come to the right place.
