Direct Marketing Club of NY – June networking event
Last night I attended a networking & informational event hosted by the Direct Marketing Club of New York. Held at Hurley’s Saloon in Times Square, it is a non-traditional venue for a business event:
They have a rooftop bar, which was the space allotted for our group. I have been to a couple of events at Hurley’s that have been quite good…though this one was a bit lackluster.
The topic was “How Technology is Changing Everything in Direct Marketing”…and the speakers were members of the trade press:
Ginger Conlon | Editor-in-Chief, DM News
Ken Magill | Founding Editor, The Magill Report
Thorin McGee | Editor-in-Chief, Target Marketing
Joe Furgiuele (Moderator) | FCI
When an industry group holding a meeting in midtown Manhattan can’t get the movers and shakers in its midst out to a rooftop bar on a beautiful night, something’s wrong. Though I did enjoy meeting some new folks, and running into some candidates that I had not met personally in the past, I couldn’t help but wonder what could be done to make attendance at future events more robust.
