Using Social Media and Traditional Media to Attract Attention
Using Social Media and Traditional Media to Attract Attention was the top of this morning’s meeting of the Social Media Club of Long Island.
The speaker was Robert Levin, Publisher and Founder of The New York Enterprise Report.
He shared some interesting insights about why some articles get re-tweeted, versus why some get more exposure on Facebook. Social media has become such an important marketing tool that his publication takes into account the “following” of a potential candidate to be featured.
There was also a lively discussion about the importance of a Klout score, with some in the group feeling that it is a legitimate “report card” of a marketer’s status in terms of social media, and others feeling that it can be manipulated.
I also learned about a site called kickstarter.com. It is billed as a funding platform for creative projects — everything from traditional forms of art (like theater and music) to contemporary forms (like design and games).
